Alan Stokes

‘Stokesy’ joined The Wave in 2013. Since the age of 13 he has claimed every British title and established himself as one of the highest rated and respected British surfers.

Alan learned to surf at the age of 6 at Fistral beach Newquay, the home of British surfing and still his local break.  Still regarded as one of the most progressive and inspiring British surfers, 2011 saw Alan claim 3rd at the European Surfing Championship event held at Bundoran Ireland.

A true good guy of the sport, Stokesy commits a lot of time to good causes.  Alan is an ambassador for the National Trust, protecting our coastline, he works with Surfers Against Sewage, helping keep our coastal waters clean.  He also works with Make a Wish Foundation granting surfing experiences to children and young people who are fighting life-threatening illnesses.

Part of Alan’s training takes him to warmer climates each winter to surf and train. To date he can list Australia, Morocco, Costa Rica, Panama, Indonesia, Brazil and many many more.

Alan has just been crowned UKPST and UK champion 2013!
I am very excited about The Wave. From a professional surfers perspective its an incredible concept that will allow up and coming talent to be coached and trained in a controlled environment. Surfing in the ocean is an ever changing playing field and it takes years of practice and determination to become successful at wave riding. The Wave is a massive game changer for performance surfing and im stoked to be involved with it.
