Céline Gehret is a professional surfer, model and qualified surf coach. Born and raised in Switzerland she grew up skateboarding and snowboarding.
Céline spent her childhood summers by the sea, and her love for the ocean combined with her passion for snowboarding soon evolved into surfing.
When she was 17 she enrolled herself in a surf camp in SW France where she got hooked on riding waves straight away. Surfing soon replaced her passion for snowboarding and with her action girl attitude she was soon flying down the face of any swell she could find.
Her passion for surfing even saw her surfing at home in Switzerland, on a stationary wave in the river Reuss.
Céline is four times Swiss National Surfing Champion and has been competing for the national Swiss surfing team in the ISA World Surfing Games and the ESF European Championships since 2001.
She is the No.1 in the 2013 Swiss Surfing Association Woman's rankings.
She has been competing on the UK Pro Surf Tour and has finished ranked 6th in 2010.
Céline is a team rider for O'Neill, Kaenon Polarized Sunglasses and The Toyfactory Surfboards and is an Ambassador for Surfers Against Sewage and The National Trust.
Free surfing and competing in surfing events has taken Céline all around the world and she names the Mentawai islands, Hawaii and Australia as some of her favorite destinations so far.
Céline has completed a degree in Surf Science and Technology at the University of Plymouth UK and she is a qualified level 3 British Surfing Association BSA surf instructor. She has been coaching for the BSA head surf school at Fistral beach, Newquay, in the BSA groms club and on various girl’s only surfing and Pilate’s holidays for the award winning Surf Travel Company, Errant Surf Ltd.
When Céline isn't travelling the world surfing and modelling, she is based in Newquay with her partner and Pro-Surfer Alan Stokes, or spends time in Switzerland with her family and friends. She still loves Snowboarding in the Swiss Alps.
Céline is a free surfer at heart and she loves travelling the world surfing and discovering new places and cultures.
'Free surfing is what I love the most so being able to surf everyday and pursue my passion as a job is just amazing! I love travelling the world surfing. I feel really lucky having the opportunity to travel to some amazing places, I love discovering new places and cultures, it's an enriching experience and I have met some amazing friends along the way!'
